Supervision systems represent an effective solution for process variables monitoring and a reply to the international provisions on the hygienic-sanitary prevention system HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
Evco suits these requirements with the supervision systems RICS.

RICS (Remote Integrated Control System) is a hardware/software package (for Windows) made of:
- a network of instruments (provided with serial port)
- a software (for process variables monitoring and events management).
The network of instruments can be made:
- only of instruments that support the EVCOBUS communication protocol
- only of instruments that support the MODBUS communication protocol
- both of instruments that support the EVCOBUS communication protocol and of others that support the MODBUS one.
The kind of network is RS-485; since the signal supplied by the serial port of some instruments is not RS-485, to interface these instruments with the network you have to use a hardware driver.
To allow the communication between the Personal Computer and the network of instruments you have to use a serial interface.
Interfacing the network of instruments to the Personal Computer (symbolic representation).

It is possible to represent each instrument in the network with a picture that looks like the real one (virtual instrument) which colour changes according to the instrument status (normal operation, execution of defrost, alarm, etc.)
To keep the physical disposition of the instruments, it is also possible to position the pictures in virtual rooms.
For each instrument it is possible to show the process variable read by the probe/probes, to show/modify the working setpoint and the configuration parameters, to show the outputs status, etc.
The data recorded by RICS are continuously stored in the hard disk of the Personal Computer; at any time it is possible to generate some reports (graphs, tables, files, etc.) on the trend of the plant in the desired interval.
To be continuously informed on the status of the plant it is also possible to set RICS in order that it sends e-mail, fax or SMS (at intervals and/or if alarm conditions had to arise) to the desired addresses.
The access to the functions happens through an identification system (login and password) by levels.
From the left-hand side: representing the instruments with virtual instruments, generating a graph and setting the mailing of SMS.

One of the most important features of RICS is the Client-Server functionality.
This functionality allows to manage one or more plants (Servers) from one or more remote stations (Clients).
The connection between these two stations can be realized through:
- a normal telephone line (modem)
- a local network (LAN)
- internet.
On the Server station it is possible to set the level of access to the function of the Client station.
Managing more plants (Servers) from a remote station (Client) with Client-Server functionality.

Another important features of RICS is the Web functionality.
This functionality allows to manage a plant from a remote station through an ordinary
internet browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer, Netscape® Navigator, Firefox®, etc .).
Managing one plant (RICS server) from a remote station both with Client-Server functionality (RICS client) and with Web functionality (Intermet browser).

Rics is available in three versions: Free, Advanced and Top; it is also available a Demo version (it allows to evaluate the software without using real devices).
